Hyderabad(India): Indus International School has introduced the novel and first Teaching Robot in India, the ‘Eagle Robot’, developed by the school, as part of a collaborative learning model at its schools. Twenty one Eagle Robots have been deployed across three of the Indus Schools, seven each in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune. Eagle Robot is highly interactive, makes the experience personalised along with emotion emulation through the digital face.

Eagle robot is capable of teaching students of grade 5 to 11, in the classroom along with the human teacher and also in a stand-alone mode. They can impart education in more than 30 different languages, clarify doubts by answering, ask questions and conduct an automated assessment at the end of the class with the help of analytics. Eagle robots are programmed to teach all the science and humanities subjects including languages. Children can connect with the assessment and content of the robot through devices like mobile, tab or laptop.

Speaking about the pioneering initiative, Lt. Gen. Arjun Ray, PVSM, VSM (Retd), Founder MD and CEO of Indus Trust; says, “Indus schools always believed in education being the most powerful Brahmastra to bridge the socio-economic gap. This motto propelled us to bring in a seamless collaboration between man and machine, to reap the benefits of technology in education. Like in other domains, Human Intelligence blended with Artificial Intelligence will bring a paradigm shift in imparting education. Humanoid robots will assist the teacher in teaching, while the teacher can build competencies for innovation. The well-groomed young talent coming out of an efficient education system like this can give the necessary fillip for our economy to boom.

Indus International School, inspired by the Telangana Government’s vision to create model schools across the state, has volunteered to support the noble cause of Telangana Chief Minister Shri K Chandrasekhar Rao garu. Lt. Gen. Arjun Ray and Ms. Aparna Achanta; demonstrated the performance of Eagle Robots to Hon. Minister of Education, Telangana, Smt. P. Sabitha Indra Reddy garu, at her office, today, to explore the possibility of deploying them in Government Schools. Indus International School has already deployed 30 robots with the Karnataka state government for govt schools to improve the quality of education there. These robots will bridge the gap of lack of teachers in government schools and improve the quality of education.

At Indus Hyderabad we strongly believe that collaboration between student, teacher and the robot as teacher assistant; will leave room for enhanced teacher student interaction. This enables overall grooming of the child into a well-rounded person to take on future challenges. Especially post Covid emotional and adversity quotient is equally if not more important than intellectual quotient, teacher with the robot assistant in the class will have time to build it” says, Ms. Aparna Achanta, Principal, Indus International School, Hyderabad. We intend to make available the Eagle robots to other education institutions in private and government sector, pan India, she added.

The benefits of robots and the collaborative learning model is three fold, they help improve academic performance, effectiveness of teaching and optimisation of teacher workload. The robot package includes preloaded content and this content can be designed and deployed for different curriculums in different languages. A teacher training package trains teachers to familiarise with the use of robots.

Indus School is acknowledged as the best International School in Hyderabad, ranked as the No.1 International school and earned reputation for its quality education. Indus International School, Hyderabad came into existence in July 2008 at Mokila near Shankarpally, and is a brainchild of the Indus Trust.
